The long awaited update v1.3.1 for Minecraft was released 2 days ago. This update is probably is the biggest update in Minecraft history with some pretty large scale changes under the engine as well as the core gameplay. Perhaps the biggest change lies with how the game is played now as it now makes a single player mode runs as a server internally.
One of the main reasons for this change is to make the single player experience smoother and allow for better world sharing with other minecraft gamers. Making this change requires whole scale changes to the minecraft engine. That is why this update took longer than others.
Other major changes in the minecraft v1.3 update include a demo mode for non-premium users, an “adventure” game mode, item trading as well as writing in books. There are many minor changes as well. For more information, click this link.
