It’s Mojang’s efforts that has to be thanked anytime, to give us the best ever and most addictive construction game, Minecraft. Who says only game developers always earns money and gets benefitted? In case of Mojang, it’s not entirely true. The best thing one can find amongst the Mojang guys is their efforts to raise funds for charity. Though, it was reported quite a while back that Mojang’s Egyptian-themed shooter real time game, Catacomb Snatch, was for charity. But, after reports started flooding in that the game developer has raised $450,000 by now, it became pretty clear that the game was actually meant for charity. This quantitative figure has been achieved by more than 80,000 loyal Mojang’s game fans who donated an average of $5.61 per head.
Mojang’s head honcho Markus “Notch” Persson said that the company has some attractive package in its box for individual donors. He added, once the charity fund crosses the $500,000 mark, the charity will be split into parts to help developing different organizations and societies, viz. American Red Cross, Water EFF & Child’s Play.
Moreover, Mojang has kept something special under the wraps, exclusively for those players who have hearts of gold. To be precise, the top ten contributors who have donated $1000 or more will get provision of playing in private server multiplayer with Mojang team for half an hour, along with getting an autographed Catacomb Snatch’s copy. Mojang organized this charity in collaboration with developers Wolfire and Oxeye.
